Learn what inspired EMHA and how this idea came to life

The Entrepreneur Mental Health Association was started and created by local small business owner Kennedy Hardinge. From a young age Kennedy always knew she wanted to own her own business. In 2017 she started Kenny’s K9 which grew to two locations in one year and now has grown from a team of one to a team of eight. She is part owner of Comfort Paws’ is a pet sitting business. Throughout her six years of entrepreneurship she went through mental health struggles and searched for resources and support to help connect with others going through the same thing.

In her research she found there was no mental health support for business owners going through mental health challenges. She reached out to other small business owners and was not surprised to find that they were feeling the exact same way.

She realized the lack of support that business owner have for mental health support and there was no community for business owners to connect. She saw that new and upcoming entrepreneurs are also not being educated on how to take care of their mental health when going on the journey of becoming a business owner.

With her passion for being a entrepreneur and love of connecting with people, she created the Entrepreneur Mental Health Association. Her vision is to build a support network for business owners to connect, to have more access to mental health support and to educate new entrepreneurs on how to take care of their mental health.

With the project being so new, there are many events and plans in place to help grow this Canadian-wide. You can follow along with us on our social media pages. Don’t forget to sign up for our newsletters so you won’t miss a thing!
